Aid-of-the-Day

Yesterday morning, I had to plan a discernment session for the incoming committee of CSS ScienceFCG. I needed to find a bible passage related to the session but I hardly read the bible and I don't know it well. I was going to flip to the back to search if there was a list of topics in the bible. I flipped to 1 Peter 4:7-11. The title was 'Good Managers of God's Gifts'. I was shocked. I mean, I did ask for help to finish the outline and to find a bible passage quick (before I would be late for school) but I didn't expect to find it on the first flip. You can call it coincidence, I call it divine intervention.
Today, I had a meeting with Ben C to dicuss the session. There was a part I overlooked and I was once again looking for a bible passage. This time, I had a sheet of paper filled with verses for discernment. There was so many of them. I just decided to try to flip to one from Acts. I meant to flip to Acts but I found my fingers at Galatians (and I don't know why I thought of Galatians) and I looked again at the paper for the Galatians verse (there were many verses from Galatians but my eyes fell upon the very verse I needed). It's description did not seem relevant. I was going to move to Acts but I figured, what the heck, let me see what it is. As you probably can guess, the passage (Gal 5:16-18) hit me. It was exactly what I was looking for.
The probability of such instances occurring TWICE is VERY low, considering the many verses available in the bible and the many options of verses available. Both passages were found on the first flip of the bible. This is what they mean by guided by the Holy Spirit.

Lab-of-the-Day

I had my LSM2201 lab today! We got to touch the beads used for gel filtration chromatography. The beads were tiny and seemed to soften/smoothen my skin!
Today, I actually understood what I was doing and I was not blur like last week! Our bench finished and left the lab the earliest I think! We finished the experiment around 4pm, discussed about it till about 5pm and then we went for "lunch".
After "lunch", it was raining very heavily and the lecture theatre (LT32) was so far away. However, Chiew Yi drove her car over and drove us to our lecture venue! Shiok!

Dinner-of-the-Day

I had my FST individual project presentation today! I presented on 'The Syneresis of Gels' focussing on gelatin. It went well I guess. At least I could answer all the questions.
Life is getting back on track. Little by little to leaps and bounds...
In the evening, we had M&M Popvillage gathering. Sort of anyway. Only bex, Chuan Lei and I ate at Crystal Jade. Serena popped by for a while. Sherlyn disappeared!!!
Anyway, I tried Sprite Zero which has 0 carbohydrates and 0 sugars. However, it contains aspartame, an artificial sweetener. It has the effect of a metallic aftertaste which I can still detect after 5 hours and a big dinner!
Happy Birthday Mr Andrew Quek!!!

Events-of-the-Day

In the morning, we (Yong Ren, me and subsequently xl) set up the AWC booth for the Sports Bazaar. Our booth sells Ladies' Fashion. Do drop by the Central Forum from 28 to 30 August!
I had CM2161 test in LT31. It's the nicest LT I've been to in NUS! The timing for the test was too short that even upon lengthening the test by 5min, I still could not complete the test! I finished 3 out of 4 questions. For the 4th question, I just scribbled a random answer. Oh well... Luckily I didn't study too hard. It was not the difficulty of the questions. It was the time constraint.
In the evening, there was CSS Science AGM. We attended mass at Holy Cross first. We've got our new committee and CGLs (Cell Group Leaders)!!!

Mooncakes-of-the-Day

In the morning, I visited pQ for a short while. We ate pandan mooncake! In the evening, Jan and Pat came to bring us out for dinner! It's been a while since I attended one of these family dinners.
Now, I'm leaving for supper soon. pQ, Ivan and maybe Wei Ling will be going. We're eating prata at Thomson!
Anyway, Heeman gave me mooncakes!!! Lotus without yolk!!! What a smart boy!!! So nice! I didn't even mention that I wanted a mooncake I wanted to demand for one though, but I didn't in the end)! What a man of initiative! He remembers that pQ and I gave him a lantern! It was so long ago!!! *touched* Called him on the phone just now. Funny boy.
pQ: We should hold a love letter writing competition. One page on Microsoft Word. Font size 12. Times New Roman. Any one who wishes to partake, please leave your name and email on the comments page. The prize is free publicity on my blog of how mushy and sweet-talkish you can be! Sign up by Valentines Day 2007.

Meeting-of-the-Day

In the afternoon, I had AWC meeting for the upcoming Sports Bazaar. We went to Holland Village to collect our goods (ladies' fashion)!

Briefing-of-the-Day

In the afternoon, I met up with CK to have lunch at Science (The Frontier). I mean, she ate and I watched her (FYI: I already had lunch at home).
After that, I had FST lab briefing. We learned about the various apparatus in the lab, basic techniques (using a pipette/micropipette, titration, etc). Our lecturer started by showing us a measuring cylinder and asking us what it was called. Basically everything from learning to wear gloves to ensuring your test tube does not roll off the table (this is done by using the fascinating invention of the test tube rack)!
We also had 3 volunteers to measure 5ml of distilled water and weigh it. Each of them used a different instrument (micropipette, 5ml bulb pipette, 25ml pipette). Guess what! The micropipette has the highest accuracy bringing the weight of the distilled water close to 5 grams! WOW.
I loved my briefing. I wouldn't rather be spending time elsewhere doing other stuff.

Retreat-of-the-Day

During my 4 hour break, I retreated to my little hermitish area at M5. The place has not changed. It's quiet, windy (the wind never seems to stop blowing) and has just enough light for doing work. The place has a calming and peaceful effect on me. It gives me a sense of serenity. I love solitude. There's too much noise in this world.
I completed my entire presentation for my FST individual project and researched on 'Theoretical Plates' and 'Donnan Effect'. I even had time to read a few pages of 'The Unbearable Lightness of Being'.

Lab-of-the-Day

I skipped lunch today! I had my first lab for LSM2201 (Experimental Biochemistry) and I had/have no clue about what happened.
I need to really start studying.
Note: Please recall serial dilution.

Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy

pQ and I visited the Institute of South East Asian Studies as well.

Question-of-the-Day

What if pQ and I stayed in hall? That would be a disaster. We would be kicked out of hall for noise pollution! Either that or the entire block of people wil move out leaving us as sole inhabitants. It's a funny thought. ^5
I visited rZ's and Jelly's room for the first time! We went to look for Shena but she was still having lessons.

Walk-of-the-Day

In the morning, I brought Titus out for a short walk-a-jog. I was wearing jeans and a black tshirt and perspired just before I left for school!

In the evening, I watched Sophie Scholl. The movie was all talk and no action in a good sense. It's a good movie.

Sunday, August 20, 2006

Durians-of-the-Day

In the evening, I met pQ and Ling Ling for dinner! We ate Teochew porridge at Ah Seah Eating House. After that, we crossed opposite to eat durians! pQ hates durians so she sat at some road corner by herself while we enjoyed our durian.
She hated the smell so much then we had to wind down the windows in the car. We blasted the music and sang songs ugly-ly. HAHA. We even sang Macarena. My abs underwent training this evening. I laughed too damn much.

CCAs-of-the-Day

In the morning, we held the Basic Course for the newcomers. There's so much fresh BLOOD. YUMMY.
Today, I was lucky at Scissors, Paper, Stone. I normally lose but I won Qingling TWICE (meaning that I didn't have to demonstrate). We helped as instructors.
After the Basic Course, there was AWC Subcommittee Elections.
After I was done at Home Team NS, I rushed down to NUS for CSS ScienceFCG Committee Meeting. I started "work " at 9.15am and ended at 7.15pm. Wow.

Tea-of-the-Day

In the afternoon, I sat down at the benches to watch people at the skate park at Somerset. I felt at peace and calm just sitting there looking at youths try out and practise their stunts.

I met Bex after that and in the MRT, we met Sandra and Siew Kia! It's been a while...
We then went to NUS and we went to see Dance Blast in action. After that, we went for EML (Electronic Music Lab) Welcome Tea. There was so much pizza and drinks (1st welcome tea that provides so much food). But food aside, EML is really cool. =)

Person-of-the-Day

During my break, I met pQ and helped her sell her books. I posed as her as she wanted to give them away for free even though her buyers agreed to the price of $5! She's mad!
Anyway, I got to meet Harvard who was one of the buyers. He is a clean-shaven, clean looking boy who is probably from Science! He speaks gently and thanked me so many times! He's punctual (actually early) and he's CUTE!!! Oh man. I fell in love in 5 seconds. See you in Science, Harvie... Damn, I should have talked to him longer. I was so eager to say goodbye. I just said bye to him 1st and ran off! pQ: Can I have his number?
Anyway, pQ and I had lunch at Grinning Gecko. Thanks for sponsoring lunch pQ! She claims that I leeched on her but I worked for it! I sold her books so that she could earn $10 instead of none! I did other stuff for her too.. Ahemz.. YOU OWE ME BIG TIME. SERIOUSLY. Anyway, we met Shena Na, Faith (from SAJC), Joy, Sancia and Kangwei.
The NUSSU diary is nice this year.
In the evening, after my lecture which ended at 7.50pm, I went to join in the AWC Orientation.

Chillin'-of-the-Day

During our 6 hour break, our FST class went to Holland Village. We ate at some noodle shop and went to Settler's Cafe to play some board games. We had so much for just for $6.60 (includes free flow Coke or Ice Lemon Tea) per person for the student package. I have not encountered such a crazy, hyper and noisy bunch in a long time (since secondary school maybe). It's definitely a great place to chill and have fun!
It's terrifying to travel around in such a large group.
There were 19 of us:
  1. Yin Teng
  2. Shing Yin
  3. Derrick
  4. Joclyn
  5. Eileen
  6. JaiME
  7. Huey Yie
  8. Leilani
  9. Weiwei
  10. Serene
  11. Pei Wei
  12. Amelia
  13. Yi Yun
  14. Pearly
  15. Grace Tan
  16. Fang Yin
  17. Denise
  18. Linling
  19. Grace Yip
That should be it I guess!
P.S. Check out our class blog at nusfst.blogspot.com!
I watched My Super Ex-girlfriend. It was not bad!

School-of-the-Day

It was a typical school day. I had my first FST2102 lesson and I was late for it (because the people I was selling my books to were late)!
I went for Assumption mass at St Mary of the Angels. The place is so nice! The nicest church I've been to!

Muscles-of-the-Day

In the evening, I had CSS SciFCG Meeting. pQ waited a while for me and she was on the brink of starvation. We went to eat at Clementi. pQ's muscles are getting BIGGER and more defined. GROSS!

Shoot-of-the-Day

I took part in the Home Team NS Monthly Shoot this morning. It's my first time taking part. My score was 336/400. That's an average of 8.4. I won 2nd prize for the pistol category. I was surprised. When they called my name, I was waiting to see if there was another 'Jaime' present.

My prize was a mug!

In the evening, my eldest brother, Justin, came over with his kids, Tiffany and Trinity. They've grown so BIG (this sounds like what your relatives will tell you)!!!

Park-of-the-Day

In the afternoon, I met Irving and we went to East Coast Park. We were supposed to go cycling but when I finally reached ECP in the hot weather, I was too lazy to cycle. We ended up strolling along the beach and sat down at the brickwater.
After that, I got hungry so we went to Parkway Parade to eat. The portion of Mee Siam was damn BIG!
We walked around a bit and headed to Marina Square to shop. I bought headphones for $8.00! We got caught in the post-fireworks display crowd and had to walk all the way to Bugis to get onto a crowded bus!
By the way, bus 401 from ECP goes to Parkway Parade.
I can feel the busy-ness already. Wait a minute... did it ever stop?

Friday, August 11, 2006

Fireworks-of-the-Day

In the morning, I went to work. I got the work done by 3pm! After that, I bought an addition to my wardrobe. In the evening, I was at Marina Bay and since I was there, I got to watch the fireworks display!

Thursday, August 10, 2006

Pursuit-of-the-Day

In the evening, there was AWC Welcome Tea. After that, we went to eat and I drove Jimmy and QL home.
On the way home, at Bukit Panjang, we witnessed a hot pursuit! Unmarked police cars were chasing a van and a red car! It was really exciting. Ask me to tell you the story if you're that interested!

Dinner-of-the-Day

In the evening, the 2 Tohs came to my place. They cooked dinner!!! The food was good, the company was good. I'm damn touched (though I didn't really show it, BUT I AM)! I really love good home cooked food. =)
Today is National Day.
Happy National Day SINGAPORE!!!
We are Singapore, we are Singapore. We're a nation strong and free forevermore!

Craving-of-the-Day

In the morning, we had SciFCG matric fair followup which is an outing to Sentosa. I played soccer with them and had to leave for an AWC meeting regarding the Welcome Tea. I wanted to train after that but I was too tired.

While driving home in the evening, the sun was shining brightly in the sky. Goodness, the feeling is excellent. I was damn satisfied with my life! On appreciating the weather, I decided to take a longer route home that would pass by Seletar Reservoir. I am going cycling to check out the sunrise there tomorrow!
On opening the fridge, I saw so many types of fruits! What a rare sight! I had a great craving for all the fruits and set out to make a fruit platter.

Fruit platter:

  • Rambutan
  • Red apple
  • Papaya
  • Orange
  • Watermelon

Movie-of-the-Day

In the morning, CK and I played badminton at YCK! It's great to excercise!!!
Bex and I watched Click today! It's a funny yet touching movie!!! The most entertaining movie I've watched all holiday I think! After that, we met Fen Nee at AMK and went to eat at Long House.

Lunch-of-the-Day

I had Oodles (nope, not a spelling error) for lunch. It's a new concept of noodles by Singapore Polytechnic students. Today, I ate the pumpkin and soy Oodles. I cooked it with lettuce, tomatoes, ham and used chicken stock as the base. What a healthy lunch!
I spent the day doing data entry and other stuff which I had been putting off.

Elections-of-the-Day

This afternoon, we had AWC elections. Well, I'm noe the Quarter Master and Vice Captain for the Air Pistol Team. In the evening, we went to Liang Kai's place for a catered buffet dinner!
Now, I'm waiting for 2.40am to leave for Changi Airport to send Grace(CSS) off to Japan!

Friday, August 04, 2006

Club-of-the-Day

In the earlier part of the day, I did data entry. At 5pm, my work started at Zouk! It's the first time that I've stepped into Zouk. My job was to give out doorgifts. We had free buffet dinner food and drinks. Besides Sprite, I drank Vodka Orange for the first time. After work, there was 2 jugs of Tiger beer and some of us went to to drink. Serena gave me a tour of Phuture as well.

Thursday, August 03, 2006

Eating-of-the-Day

I helped with AWC matric in the morning. After that, I did data entry.
In the evening, my AJ clique (Shuming, MJ, Sandra) went for dinner at Riverside Indonesian Restaurant at Clarke Quay. We ordered 6 dishes for $10++ each followed by dessert. We spent $18 each. I ate and drank so much I had to wait a while before I could walk from the table. I MUST excercise soon. We ate this avocado dessert which everyone hated except Sandra who was OK with it. I thought it was fine too and I ate the whole lot down!
Fact of the day:
Avocado is a fruit with the highest fat and protein content. It can have up to 30% of fat!

Wednesday, August 02, 2006

Shooting-of-the-Day

I spent the day working. After that, I went to train for air pistol. My grouping is better than expected. I think I need to excercise. I feel unfit.

Tuesday, August 01, 2006

Matriculation-of-the-Day

I helped out with the CSS booth this morning. It's so much more difficult to approach people and for people to listen to you when it's about religion.
After that, I went to work. I did data entry. The first time I'm doing a deskbound job!
Happy Tween Birthday Sandra (Woodstock's gf)!
