Shopping-of-the-Day

The target card (ba2 ka3) is 9m away only!!! Internet - the greatest invention of all time!
The view from my room. Nice huh?

We spent the day shopping, mainly at Eaton Centre. I bought 3 tops and toiletries from Eaton Centre! We had lunch at the Food Court at Eaton Centre. I ate clams and salad for $4.99 (w/o tax). The prices listed are all w/o tax so it's kind of deceiving for me. Well, I like the girl who served me for lunch. Nice girl. Anyway, we started taking out our calculators today >> obviously not locals.

There's so many internationals staying in Toronto!!! SERIOUSLY cosmopolitan. The service is excellent over here!! Hmm, the food here is all too farmiliar. Not much excitement in food. There's Popeyes! Hmm, I can have the same type of food in Singapore, here. They even sell Singapore Fried Vermicelli. There's Indian, Thai, Japanese, Chinese (including dim sum), Western, etc..

After lunch, we headed to Chinatown. Nothing much that I wanted to buy. I bought 1 top. It started to drizzle so we headed back to our residence. Didn't really get to explore Chinatown fully. We'll probably head back there and check out Kensington which is next to Chinatown as well.

Going to eat dinner!

Walk-of-the-Day

Well well. It's summer and the days are really long! The sun sets at about 9pm instead of 7am and the sun rises before 515am!!! Gosh. Monika and I went for a long walk all the way the Harbourfront to see WATER. Anyway, the buildings here are way cool! You should see The University of Toronto (UOT)!!! It's a GREAT difference from NUS.

We spent the day walking around UOT after breakfast (BUFFET breakfast but I didn't eat much). Lunch was a hotdog, the kind you get from the roadside stalls. Sorry, no photos cos images not yet uploaded from my camera! And the images are rather huge, so.. show you all when I get back! Oh yah, the clothes and stuff here are DAMN NICE. They're like having sale so it's really great. I haven't bought anything cos there's TOO MANY things that I want to buy. TSK. I think I need to do some budgeting. Hmm... maybe not. Haha.

Oh, the people here are DAMN FRIENDLY!!! Nice people! Well, I'm heading to dinner soon and we'll be hanging out at some crafts market followed by the Jazz festival. Hey, this city is ULTRA happening.

Anyway, SMS is like S$0.30 but I have to type it within 40 seconds if not it won't go through! Incoming SMS is free so please SMS me!!! Not used to such a quiet phone. Miss some folks back home but oh well.. Will be calling people soon I guess. I got this DAMN cool thing that let's me call back 300min per week for FREE using my laptop. I can call internationally to land phones (i.e. telephone/mobile phone).

The only horrible thing was that my AC adaptor for my laptop died so I had to get another one at C$136. I wouldn't even dare to try to convert that to S$. TSK. Well, the new adaptor's light is blue. Nice.

Anyway, the post time of this blog is now following Torontonian time!

Flight-of-the-Day

Hong Kong...

Leaving Chicago...

Toronto...

Wasabi in ginger. Forgot to put this up.Try it.

WOW!!! I spent the day flying. I went to 3 countries (Hong Kong, Chicago in US and Toronto in Canada) in a single day!!!
I basically ate and slept. I was so tired so I kept sleeping. I couldn't even keep awake towatch the movies on board. Hmm, US customs took a really long time. We even had to remove our shoes! Anyway, my NORMAL diet plan has begun. I basically drank juice and Sprite Zero on the plane and even refused the chocolates and snacks they were giving out!

FYI, Toronto is 12 hours behind Singapore time! Hmm. We're staying at 89 Chestnut Residence. The weather's great!!! For our first night, we ate at a Chinese restaurant. The portions are HUGE and I was far from finishing it! Unpacked everything on the first night! Shiok.

In the morning, went to settle some AWC stuff in school!

For dinner, my CSS people celebrated Serene's birthday! It's been a while since I last saw them!

At night, went to Pasir Ris for chalet. It's like a private party with just Jimmy, LK, JY, HJ, XY and me! The place big sia. Shiok.

Shopping-of-the-Day

To be honest, I didn't exactly shop. HJ and I went downtown today! I went to get a couple of stuff for my trip to Canada. Well well...

Dinner-of-the-Day

Today was a superbly packed day! My day began at 6am! In the morning, I was checking out some stuff for the itinerary. Tsk tsk.. Toronto is happening!!! Haha, should I bring a mini Singapore flag over to celebrate National Day there? Anyway, I'll be celebrating Canada Day!

At 8.45am, I left home and headed to Jan and Pat's to collect a luggage bag, universal adaptor and some US dollars. The US dollars came free - their sponsorship for part of my New York City trip!!! My aunt sponsored the other part!

At 10am, I had an online meeting on MSN with my Summer Programme (SP) people. I think they're a fun lot! That's cool. The online meeting was fruitful and 7 of us turned up which is cool.

Jimmy sponsored lunch today! T'was bee hoon with vegetable! I couldn't finish my lunch even though I didn't have breakfast! Thanks for the lunch Jimmy!

At noon, we had NUSIS Debrief. It was a good debrief. I like.

At about 3.30pm, we held the NUS AWC EXCO Elections. Oh well. Ok. Accepted. I have a good team to work with. I like.

In the evening, Pistolers (should it be spelled like that???) went for BBQ Steamboat at Marina South! There were 11 of us. Today was one of the few times that I would just sit there and eat and hardly cook. That seems like the situation nowadays with AWC people! Anyway, we had the Varsity Captain elections too.

At night, I packed my luggage! I'm still not done with it! I packed it until 4+am!!!

How to Save a Life by The Fray

Step one you say we need to talk
He walks you say sit down it's just a talk
He smiles politely back at you
You stare politely right on through
Some sort of window to your right
As he goes left and you stay right
Between the lines of fear and blame
You begin to wonder why you came

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

Let him know that you know best
Cause after all you do know best
Try to slip past his defense
Without granting innocence
Lay down a list of what is wrong
The things you've told him all along
And pray to God he hears you
And pray to God he hears you

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

As he begins to raise his voice
You lower yours and grant him one last choice
Drive until you lose the road
Or break with the ones you've followed
He will do one of two things
He will admit to everything
Or he'll say he's just not the same
And you'll begin to wonder why you came

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life
How to save a life
How to save a life

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life
How to save a life

Linger by The Cranberries

If you, if you could return
Don't let it burn, don't let it fade
I'm sure I'm not being rude
But it's just your attitude
It's tearing me apart
It's ruining everything
And I swore, I swore I would be true
And honey so did you
So why were you holding her hand
Is that the way we stand
Were you lying all the time
Was it just a game to you

But I'm in so deep
You know I'm such a fool for you
You got me wrapped around your finger
Do you have to let it linger
Do you have to, do you have to
do you have to let it linger

Oh, I thought the world of you
I thought nothing could go wrong
But I was wrong
I was wrong

If you, if you could get by
Trying not to lie
Things wouldn't be so confused
And I wouldn't feel so used
But you always really knew
I just wanna be with you

And I'm in so deep
You know I'm such a fool for you
You got me wrapped around your finger
Do you have to let it linger
Do you have to. do you have to
Do you have to let it linger

And I'm in so deep
You know I'm such a fool for you
You got me wrapped around your finger
Do you have to let it linger
Do you have to, do you have to
Do you have to let it linger

You know I'm such a fool for you
You got me wrapped around your finger
Do you have to let it linger
Do you have to, do you have to
Do you have to let it linger

..

Confessions of a Broken Heart by Lindsay Lohan

I wait for the postman to bring me a letter.
And I wait for the good Lord to make me feel better.
And I carry the weight of the world on my shoulders.
Family in crisis that only grows older.
Why'd you have to go?
Why'd you have to go?
Why'd you have to go?

Daughter to father, daughter to father!
I am broken, but I am hoping.
Daughter to father, daughter to father!
I am crying, a part of me's dying.
confessions of a broken heart!

And I wear all your old clothes your polo sweater.
I dream of another you, one who would never.
Never, leave me alone to pick up the pieces. Daddy to hold me, that's what I needed.

So,why'd you have to go?
Why'd you have to go?
Why'd you have to go?

Daughter to father, daughter to father!
I don't know you, but I still want to.
Daughter to father, daughter to father!
Tell me the truth, did you ever love me?
confessions....!!! of a broken heart!
Of a broken heart!

I love you.
I love you.
I love you.
I ........
I love you!

Daughter to father, daughter to father!
I don't know you, but I still want to.
Daughter to father, daughter to father!
Tell me the truth, did you ever love me?
Dd you ever love me?
confessions.........!!! of a broken heart! (x2)

Ohh ... yeah

And I wait for the postman to bring me a letter.

Movie-of-the-Day

Finally watched my first R-21 movie in the cinema! Hmm, HJ and I watched Spider Lilies at Cineleisure. Not really sexually explicit. Probably R-21 cos of the gay theme!

Nice..

Breathe (2 AM) by Anna Nalick

2 AM and she calls me cause I'm still awake
"Can you help me unravel my lastest mistake
I don't love him. Winter just wasn't my season."
Yeah we walk through the doors, so accusing their eyes
Like they have any right at all to critize
Hyprocrites, You're all here for the very same reason

*Cause you can't jump the track, we're like cars on a cable
And life's like an hourglass glued to the table
No one can find the rewind button, girl
So cradle your head in your hands
And breathe...just breathe

In May he turned 21 on the base of Ft. Bliss
"Just a day," he said down to the flask in his fist.
"Ain't been sober since maybe October of last year."
And here in town you can tell he's been down for a while
But, my God, it's so beautiful when the boy smiles
Wanna hold him. Maybe I'll just sing about it.

Cause you can't jump the track, we're like cars on a cable
And life's like an hourglass glued to the table
No one can find the rewind button, boys
So cradle your head in your hands
And breathe...just breathe.

There's a light at each end of this tunnel
You shout cause you're just as far in as you'll ever be out
And these mistakes you've made, you'll just make them again
if you only try turning around

2 AM and I'm still awake writing a song
If I get it all down on paper its no longer inside of me
Threatening the life it belongs to
And I feel like I'm naked in front of the crowd
Cause these words are my diary screaming out loud
And I know that you'll use them however you want to

Swallowed in the Sea by Coldplay

You cut me down a tree
And brought it back to me
And that's what made me see
Where I was going wrong
You put me on a shelf
And kept me for yourself
I can only blame myself
You can only blame me

And I could write a song
A hundred miles long
Well, that's where I belong
And you belong to me

And I could write it down
Or spread it all around
Get lost and then get found
Or swallowed in the sea

You put me on a line
And hung me out to dry
And darling that's when I
Decided to go to see you

You cut me down to size
And opened up my eyes
Made me realize
What I could not see

And I could write a book
The one they'll say that shook
The world, and then it took
It took it back from me

And I could write it down
Or spread it all around
Get lost and then get found
And you'll come back to me
Not swallowed in the sea

Ooh...

And I could write a song
A hundred miles long
Well, that's where I belong
And you belong with me

The streets you're walking on
A thousand houses long
Well, that's where I belong
And you belong with me

Oh what good is it to live
With nothing left to give
Forget but not forgive
Not loving all you see

Oh the streets you're walking on
A thousand houses long
Well that's where I belong
And you belong with me
Not swallowed in the sea

You belong with me
Not swallowed in the sea
Yeah, you belong with me
Not swallowed in the sea

Dinner-of-the-Day

Met pQ and ling ling (aka Ah Long) at Sun Plaza for dinner. I ate a bowl of veggies! Ordered Yong Tau Foo soup without any carbohydrates. The veggies made me full.

After that, went to their place to help Ah Long with A Maths. Solved 3 questions for her (real roots, sets and simultaneous equations). I'm amazed I can still do A Maths. Quite fun!

No more scars... (",)

Concert-of-the-Day

I attended my first hyper, indoor, LOUD concert this evening. The Planet Shakers performed. Thanks DAWGZ! Haha.

More on durians...
The strong odour in durians is due to mercaptans. There is a naturally occuring aldehyde (5-hydroxy-methyl-furfural, 5-HMF) in the durian shell. Mercaptan reacts with the aldehyde to form a hemithioacetal which is odourless. That's why you should fill the hollow shells of the durian fruit with water to wash your hands and rinse your mouth!

What makes Chilli so hot?
This is due to capsaicinoids present. Capsaicin is the most pungent and main capsaicinoid in chilli followed by dihydrocapsaicin. Capsaicin is lipophilic and is soluble in fats/oils but not in water. Drinking water to reduce the "burning" effect is ineffective as the non-polar capsaicin is unable to react with polar water molecules. Consuming foods high in fats/oils such as milk, bread and butter will help alleviate the "burning".

Pubs-of-the-Day

Pinocchio.

Tuck Shop.

Loof.

I went swimming this morning!

Uncle Fred disrupted me from my nap TWICE! Anyway, we (pQ, Fred, Ling Ling and I) went to Tuck Shop and Loof. Fred's friend, Sly, joined us for Tuck Shop only. The steak burger at Tuck Shop was EXCELLENT!!! WAH. Drank Singapore Sling today. Tom Cruise drank it in some movie.

For Uncle Fred's benefit... pQ, please relay the message:

Durian and Beer
Durian should not be consumed with beer as this may give you a really bad stomach ache. Beer contains yeasts which will react with the glucose in durian to give carbon dioxide and ethanol (ethanol is the product in the absence of air while ethanoic acid is the product in the presence of air). It is the production of carbon dioxide in the fermentation reaction that we are concerned with. Well, my friends and I tried pouring beer onto durian and there was a rather vigorous reaction. My advice is to avoid mixing durian with beer.

Durian and Mangosteen
I have found no good reason to avoid mangosteen when consuming durian. In fact, it is believed that durian should be consumed with mangosteen. An alternative method is to sip water from the shells of the mangosteen fruit. Durian is considered a "heaty" fruit, i.e. it raises body temperature. Mangosteen is considered to be "cooling". Therefore, mangosteen is supposed to counteract the "heatiness" of durian.

Excercise-of-the-Day

In the morning, HJ and I went for a jog at MacRitchie! Yay, excercise is good. Hmm.. After that, we lunched with Jimmy!

In the afternoon, went to range. Did an hour of dry firing (30min on white, 30min on black) followed by 10 shot grouping.

Anyway, pQ sucks!!! Hahaha..... We need to spend more time together before I leave in 2 weeks time!!! EEK. Can't believe I just typed that. Heh.

Excercise-of-the-Day

Transported the guns back to HomeTeamNS with HJ this morning.

In the afternoon, we (Air Weapons people) played basketball. Tsk, I'm rather unfit. I think I should really excercise more. My stamina is.. "bye bye".

You lose some calories.

After that, we had buffet dinner at Sakura! Hmm.. I think I don't really like buffets anymore. I'm going to decrease my food intake further until it becomes a normal, non-excessive diet.

You gain some calories.

Movie-of-the-Day

pQ's pubic hair?!

Went to CCK range with HJ and Jimmy this morning. Once again, I'm tempted to try live firing! One day, I will. After transporting stuff, I went for church at Church of Our Lady Star of the Sea! Went home to slack a while then went to Suntec to get stuff.

Later on, I met pQ and we watched Pirates of the Caribbean (2nd time watching)! My diet has changed dramatically. Haha. REALLY. I'm sharing my calories with pQ! Just tried gin tonic at home (I drank only one shot glass full, on the rocks)! Not as nice as what my uncle makes but still quite ok! Gin tonic's my favorite drink!!! Bought choya too, gonna try it another day.

Today, I'm a changed person.

Achievement-of-the-Day

In the afternoon, pQ and I went for lunch and then met up with Ms Pig. We slacked at coffee bean. We wanted to play pool but the shop was closed and we (or rather I) was too lazy. rZ and I were supposed to run but she had family dinner.

After that, I went to run with me, myself and I at around 7pm. I started from Seletar Reservoir. Shiok. It was only a 30min run but it was quite fast and I even ran some parts on grass. Shiok. I need to run more (FAT, even Ms Pig say I put on weight). Today's run was an achievement. It started as a jog and broke into a run! YAY! Was damn hyper in my car.

I think I have an eating disorder man. I keep wanting to eat and I feel hungry all the time. Tsk. I should just eat fruits or drink water every time I want to eat excessively. I need to cut down on food and up that activity level! No more excessive eating for me. Jaime, promise yourself. This is for your confidence, heart, health, well-being!!! Gluttony - one of the 7 deadly sins. DISCIPLINE.

My father's gone out. I feel like the parent. Last night my father was like, "You don't have to wait up for me what!" He came back at 1+am, I came back at midnight. Well, I wasn't waiting up. I was online. Chatted with Andrew Quek till 4.30am. HE'S SUPER CRAP.

Gosh, my father goes out on Friday and Saturday nights while I stay home. He's trashing me in coolness. I wanted to go drinking today and leave Valen home but... No one drink with me!!! SHENA hurry come back from Cambodia then can!!! I'm staying home to SULK. Or maybe I should just go Zouk or MOS. Ok, kidding.

星星-of-the-Day

The ONLY mandarin song that I can sing. Chanced upon it. Nice, sad song. Well well.

Listen to it here .

Death-of-the-Day

Man, Titus killed a mouse! It was living in some carton boxes in my courtyard. First time I see Titus so fast and successful. He just chased the mouse and bit it, causing it to lie motionless. The tail moved a bit then it died!!!

Anyway, I went to NUS to do some nerdy stuff. Haha. So proud of myself. Met up with Jan and Pat at YIH! I'm such a nice sister, tsk.

Went to the range in the evening. Training was quite good I guess. SP offered me dumplings that Coach Song made. Tsk, everyday give me food, so happie!
