Gathering-of-the-Day

Shuming, MJ and Sandra came to my house this morning to play Mahjong and Cluedo!
After that, we had AJC 11/03 class gathering at my place. We played some Mahjong and Cluedo since it was raining. After the rain, we played soccer! It's very fun to slip and slide in the mud. It's been a while since I got dirty!

Celebration-of-the-Day

We (pQ, Xinhong and JAIME) watched The Family Stone at Orchard Cineleisure.
After the movie, pQ and I celebrated Pre-New Year! They were rehearsing for New Year celebrations outside Takashimaya. There was dance music so I was running and moving around crazily and pQ was shouting "Happy New Year!". Isn't it more fun to celebrate New Year when there's no crowd? EXCELLENT.

Gathering-of-the-Day

Met Sandra for lunch. After that, we went to the library and borrowed a book, which she held in high regard (Mitigating Circumstances by Nancy Taylor Rosenberg).
We had CSS Science Year End Celebrations cum Fundraising. It was a potluck and a movie screening (of which I spent 50min conversing with Ms Sandra Xu over my handphone!).

Adventure-of-the-Day

pQ, Sephine and I ventured out to East Coast Park to cycle. We cycled quite a distance and found a beach that had no path leading to it so we cycled on the grass towards it. It was there that our adventure began!
Here's what we did (we have photographs to prove it!):
  • Cycling on the beach (this is eXtremely difficult!)
  • Climbed a tree
  • Climbed rocks
  • Hid under a sand 'cliff'

It started to drizzle so we headed back. On the way back, we saw sandcastles! They were skillfully crafted!

After that, I parted from them and headed for air pistol training.

After training, I went to Causeway Point on my way home and played Daytona and Time Crisis 3! When I set my hands on the Daytona machine, I realised that the steering wheel was tiny compared to a real car, so it felt weird.

Gathering-of-the-Day

We had CEDAR 4/O class gathering at Jo-Ann's place today! Sandra and I brought tuna casserole. We ordered pizza and some other side dishes as well! A wave of nostalgia swept over me as we talked about our days in school! We laughed so hard at the events that occurred and at ourselves!
This was the turn-up this year:
  • JAIME
  • Jo-Ann
  • Qianhui
  • Hoi Man
  • Lih Tyng
  • Siew Kia
  • Pei Shan
  • Sandra
Char Siew Pau (Siew Kia) suggested that we organize activities at the next gathering! Some highlights include:
  • Hide the handphone(s) competition - just think back to the days when we 'smuggled' handphones to school and hid it in the weirdest places (toilet window sill, OHP, Ceiling, etc.)
  • Changing competition - remember the days when we had PE (physical education) and we were too lazy to make a trip to the washroom to change? We'd skillfully change from our uniforms to our PE t-shirts in class!

Food-of-the-Day

It's Christmas! As usual, we had lunch at my aunt's place. There were 4 cakes for dessert! We had so much to eat that it was the only meal I had all day (and I am still not hungry).
After that, I went to MacRitchie to run with pQ. Saw Ms Lee there.
After our run, we went downtown and had many laughs as usual! She was being a Grinchy Grinch! We were jumping like Grinches.. Our Christmas tradition!

Presents-of-the-Day

Met Andrew at MacRitchie to run in the morning.. The weather was good, with occasional showers. It was a good workout. Ran quite a lot. The entire route was about 10km.
We had Christmas Eve dinner as usual.... But the presents... Oh man.. For the gift exchange, my present was from Jansen and he bought me Mr P! A sticky tape dispenser!

My father bought me (you'd never guess) Hush Puppies underwear!!! And wait till I tell you how he got my size.... Hilarious!!!

Knight-of-the-Day

Met pQ for Christmas shopping today!
And the Knight of the day is...... Sir Peter! We (My family - Jan & Pat, Julius & Agnes) went to Orchard Cineleisure to watch The Chronicles of Narnia - The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. I love talking animals! In the movie, their behaviour, mannerisms and speech seemed very natural. The cutest was the male talking beaver!!!

Outing-of-the-Day

We had CSS Science steamboat/BBQ today! We ate at Chong Pang at Marina Bay! The food was fresh and the variety was satisfactory.
That's all for today. That's all I have to say.

I met Liyun from FST Year 2 in the morning to check out Tessensohn Clubhouse! It was the first time I ever met her.
Later, I went to AJC and met Jing Hui and Clara. JH and I went to J8 to window-shop. It's been a long time since I met up with JH.
In the evening, I went for air pistol training!

BBQ-of-the-Day

I went to the cafe at IKEA with pQ and ate their famous Meatballs and Chicken Wings for the first time. It was excellent, especially the Meatballs!
Attended the Air Weapons Club (AWC) BBQ today. It was rather odd since I hardly knew anyone there. However, the food was generally well cooked!

Lesson-of-the-Day

Spent the early hours of the morning having an unofficial Relationship/Love cell group. It started of as sharing of each person's love life and led to a discussion of various issues involving Catholism.
We (Lianne and me!) learnt about oral hygeine care today from our fellow CSS member, Mary-Anne at 4am this morning! She's knows her stuff well!
We did not sleep the whole night!
I went to AJC to climb with Odacians. Apparently, I became an AJ odacian that day after my rite of initiation (throwing me into the fountain!) during the BBQ. THANK YOU.. Especially to the masterminds, Sandra and Liying! Interesting people. I must say, Liying is probably the most entertaining person to be around. *winks*

Call-of-the-Day

Went Christmas SHOPPING with Sandra. Started off at Ikea and went down to Orchard where we ate at Food Republic (Wisma Atria) and started shopping at Far East Plaza all the way down to Centrepoint and back to Takashimaya.
Just finished talking to Calvin Hee aka Heeman!!! It's been such a long time since we talked. I was surprised we could talk for 39min40s and then he had to go. T'was pleasant to suddenly receive a call from someone you haven't heard from for a long time (I think the last time we conversed on the phone was in Secondary 2!)! He's in the same platoon as Irving. Heeman is still as guai as ever.

Prawns-of-the-Day

I just had to dedicate an entry to prawns today!
Part I - Vengeance, even after death!
I ate Ee-mian for lunch today at Plaza Singapura foodcourt and there was a prawn with its shell still attached! I didn't want to use my hands so I bit the prawn head off! The prawn head is full of "pokey" stuff. As I left the foodcourt, I noticed a bump in my gums. The prawn poked me! In the toilet, I discovered that I was bleeding!
Part II - Ah Huay, the Tiger Prawn
I ate a whole lot of prawns at Marina Bay steamboat/BBQ. They gave us live prawns. Actually, just a single living Tiger prawn! Didn't know he was still alive! When I reached for the plate, Amanda (from FST), saw his legs move! We came to the conclusion that it was a "he" because he made sudden movements that splashed water everywhere, even on me! Only a "he" would be so naughty. Since it was alive, it was only right to bestow a name upon it. He was called "Ah Huay" as named by Sharon (from FST). Since we are humane and the Tom Yum soup was not yet boiling, we decided to wait till it boiled so that Ah Huay would have a quick and hopefully, a less painful death. We couldn't return him to the sea for he was sure to die. We had to put an end to his misery!
When the soup was boiling, we made a space large enough for him to plunge in and I dropped him in. After a while, he made a splash! Boy, was he hardy! Die, Ah Huay, die! For his own good, he should die quickly.
We took all the prawns out together and we identified Ah Huay because he was the only Tiger prawn and hence the reddest among the lot. When I took him out, he was dead of course and I passed him to Sharon who passed it to Amanda who passed it back to Sharon. We didn't want to eat Ah Huay! But what a pity if his death was in vain! His death should at least have the purpose of nourishing a person. We discussed who was to peel him and who was to eat him. Sharon peeled his shell off and Amanda ate him. She reported that Ah Huay tasted good.
At the end of our meal, we ate ice cream and I felt a spurt of warm Tom Yum on my arm. It was weird, the flame was small and the soup was barely simmering! We declared that it was the Revenge of Ah Huay!

Movie-of-the-Day

We (pQ, Sandra and me) watched Pride and Prejudice today. Starring Matthew Macfadyen (Sandra's boyfriend) and Kiera Knightly! It's a classic so we expected it to be rather boring but it was fantastic! Their witty, sarcastic insults and remarks are hilarious!
I went for "FST class outing" in the evening. Steamboat at Marina. The food was good because it was free flow. The company was good (Sharon and Amanda). Well, that's 3/42 for attendance! 1/14 of the class!

Dinner-of-the-Day

Went to AMK Library with Sandra today. We met Clara there. She recognized us by my AJ trackpants! Ate at Mos Burger today. I tried Sandra's clam chowder but we concluded that Long John's chowder tastes better. It has a milder shellfish taste. I ate the burger in which there were no bread buns. Instead, juicy lettuce replaced it, wrapping around the teriyaki chicken. In my opinion, it isn't worth $3.20 even though it makes you feel healthy.

I went home to eat dinner again. This was my second round of dinner as I wasn't full from my meal at Mos Burger. Dinner led into a 2 hour long discussion of issues with my father. I realized that he is very knowledgeable and recalls much of the information taught to him even at secondary school! He is 60+ years old mind you! He sure knows his Geography!
We discussed these issues:
  • Geography (Maps, countries, volcanoes, clouds, etc!)
  • The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown (Christianity, his purpose of writing the book, how skilled he was at crafting a controversy which led to his Best Seller)
  • Archaeology (Especially the pyramids of Egypt)
  • Atlantis
  • UFOs
  • The cycle of civilization
  • The Japanese Occupation
  • The Holocaust
  • My grandfather and great grandfather (Occupations, wealth, way of life, etc!)

These discussions at dinner are turning into a habit! Very enriching. Really!!!

Outings-of-the-Day

Went swimming with Ms Goh rZ! Swam 10 laps today (improvement from 6 laps the last time we swam!)

Met Irving at night to watch Saw 2! The show made me "irk" so much! It's been a while since I had such strong reactions to a movie! Very gruesome indeed! Walked from Lido all the way to Suntec to see Christmas lights! Took photos with our camera phones! Had a very enjoyable time. By the time we were done, it was 1+am!

Food-of-the-Day

Ben & Jerry's ice cream!!!
Ate 9 flavours! Bought 3 bowls with 3 scoops each to share among 9 people! This was after the trivarsity mass at Cathedral. They provided dinner, so we went for dessert! Shiok! I was superbly hyper after that!

Thoughts-of-the-Day

Went downtown with rZ today. Played pool but we were mainly talking. We walked down to Artfriend at Takashimaya.
I came to the realization that since we used to love preparing gifts and doing crafts for our seniors' farewells, when we become wives next time, we'll go to each other's home and do crafts! That's so much more exciting than mundane things like movies and pool!

Pieces-of-the-Day

Fixed some pieces of the 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle today. It's a picture of 2 teddy bears holding hands watching the sunset.

Went training for air pistol. My muscles became stronger, probably due to climbing that day.

Newie-of-the-Day

Newie: Karaoke at KBox!
Went to the Marina branch with MJ, Ah Ming and Sandra.. Got Linkin Park!!!!
Was dancing to "She Bangs" by Ricky Martin in the true William Hung way and one of the staff walked in.. Threw my face to the max!

Ate Sakae today too. I'm really losing my appetite.

Meeting-of-the-Day

Went to NUS for Science FCG Comm meeting at YIH. It was rather noisy due to construction. After that, I read Shakespeare's "The Merchant of Venice" until Sandra popped up. Met Liying too.. They had training for climbing.
That's all for today, that's all I have to say.

Thoughts-of-the-Day

Went to MacRitchie with rZ today! It's been a while. Walk-a-jog the 8K route but we walked the wooden planks area on the way back. A very long journey. Worth the while.
It's the first time I drove to MacRitchie, then off to Bishan where finding a parking lot was a great challenge.
At MacRitchie, the people leaning against my car were a little surprised when I unlocked the car. Many people are. I could almost hear people think aloud, "Oh no! What's this small kid doing driving a car?!", each time I unlock the car.
Saw Andrew and Amanda. We thought Amanda was Audrey at first sight. They look so alike now.
Anyway, the papaya and taro ice cream from Yoshinoya is fantabulous.
Have that weird feeling again! It's almost like I'm in a fairytale with a happy ending over and over but there simply isn't a happy ending in my fairytale as yet. That's why it's a weird feeling. Glad without a cause.

Dinner-of-the-Day

Attended the Regina Coeli Choir's 15th Anniversary Dinner at SVDP. There were performances (singing and dancing), including a little bit of Christmas carolling. The food was good. Buffet style, yet there were waiters! We even drank fruit punch out of wine glasses! Saw many people I have not met in some time.

At our table:
  • Leonie
  • Mark Ng (See photo)
  • Nicholas Lange
  • Rebecca P
  • David de Cruz
  • Justin
  • Joshua Tan
  • Matthew
  • Jaime!

Saw people like Desiree and Eunice too.

Wave of nostalgia. What a community I used to be part of. That weird feeling still lingers.

Movie-of-the-Day

And the Movie-of-the-Day is.... (*drumroll*)

Chicken Little! If I remembered correctly, they didn't play the song we keep hearing on the advertisement. Besides that, the movie was fine. Watched it with Sandra and Susie!

Late at night at home, I felt weird. Felt that I fell in love (with no one in particular). Just the feeling. Weird.

Achievement-of-the-Day

  • Climbing.

Climbed to the top (for my first route at least)! Took half a lifetime, but made it up there anyway.
Climbed about 15m...

just-a-little-bit-more

  • Made 2 new friends! Jiaying and Liying!
