Dinner-of-the-Day

Spent the whole day at home after church! Mugging the whole day and settling some shooting stuff. Anyway, I think I'm falling sick. Unbelievably tired.

For dinner, I had corned beef with rice wrapped in boiled cabbage and stewed chicken.

This looks like Titus' dinner! That's my dinner.

Farm-of-the-Day

Active ingredient for mozzie repellent!
Flower mushroom?For pQ!

Lotus Pond

Snails!
Tiny durian tree!

Met Jimmy for lunch today! Almost died of hunger!!! pQ and I visited the Bollywood farm this afternoon! It farms organic crops! After that, we bought food from Yishun and headed to my place for dinner and to watch VCD. Dropped pQ back home rather early (9+pm) so I was back home early. We were too tired to do anything else. Was supposed to clear some work.

Tired. Need rest.
Grossly unfit. Need excercise.

Breakfast-of-the-Day

Ate breakfast at McDonald's with JY and Leon this morning! It's been a while since I did that (as far as I can recall). The leadership course was canceled (notification was at 10+am via SMS when the course timing was 9am) and we accidentally crashed a CPR course (which we exited during the tea break). The person who informed us was rather apologetic so that was fine. Had some extra time so that's cool!

Outing-of-the-Day

Our AWC Committee and Peilin went for KTV this evening! KTV always scares me with the about-to-get-sore throat syndrome. Chinese Chinese Chinese.. Hmm.. I wanna learn Malay!

Facts-of-the-Day

Facts:
  • Capsaicin (causes spiciness of chilli peppers) enhances perceived food temperature (above mouth temperature).
  • Menthol can increase cooling (below mouth temperature) and warmth (above mouth temperature).
Spent the day mugging at home! This is what I did today: (",)
  • FST3101 Tutorial 2
  • Reviewed FST3101 Tutorial 1

*hungry* Waiting for Julius to bring food home!!!

Nice story:

There was a man who had four sons. He wanted his sons to learn not to judge things too quickly. So he sent them each on a quest, in turn, to go and look at a pear tree that was a great distance away. The first son went in the winter, the second in the spring, the third in summer, and the youngest son in the fall.

When they had all gone and come back, he called them together to describe what they had seen. The first son said that the tree was ugly, bent, and twisted.

The second son said no it was covered with green buds and full of promise.

The third son disagreed; he said it was laden with blossoms that smelled so sweet and looked so beautiful, it was the most graceful thing he had ever seen.

The last son disagreed with all of them; he said it was ripe and drooping with fruit, full of life and fulfillment.

The man then explained to his sons that they were all right, because they had each seen but only one season in the tree's life. He told them that you cannot judge a tree, or a person, by only one season, and that the essence of who they are and the pleasure, joy, and love that come from that life can only be measured at the end, when all the seasons are up.

If you give up when it's winter, you will miss the promise of your spring, the beauty of your summer, fulfillment of your fall. Let’s not let the pain of one season destroy the joy of all the rest.

This video shows you how to make an air gun (you are advised not to try this in Singapore). Quite cool.

Report-of-the-Day

I didn't go to school today! Stayed home to do FST3103 report! Phew. It didn't seem as tough as the first report but the formulae were long and complicated! Keep pressing calculator wrongly, getting weird answers!

Excursion-of-the-Day

For the "lab" session this afternoon, we went to Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA)! We visited their 8 labs:
  • Contaminants & Confirmatory Chemistry Branch
  • Pesticide Residues Branch
  • Drug Residues Branch
  • Food & Nutrition Chemistry Branch
  • Microbiology Branch
  • Toxins Branch
  • Food Quality & Authentication Branch
  • Molecular Biology Branch
Tsk. The place was located in such an ulu part of Singapore! OH WELL. Anyway, it was quite funny driving there cos there were 3 cars (Mark's, Chewy's and Valen) following behind the bus to AVA. On the way back, we followed Mark's car and we kind of Daytona-ed! Overtook vehicles so many times by going on the opposite direction way on a very long and winding road!

Silence-of-the-Day

Spent the day doing my FST3101 lab report and I'm still not done with it! There's still tomorrow morning! Well, met pQ for lunch and we ate at Yishun 81 (teochew porridge - my craving). Been having quite a few cravings lately.. Oh well! At lunch, pQ ate so little so I was "clearing up"! She complained that I was talking too much so I ate too slowly. I told her if I didn't talk, she'd complain but she said she wouldn't.. so I shut up all the way till we reached my home (she came to my place for a mugging session). It was DAMN FUNNY! The silent joke. Haha.. She couldn't get me to talk!!! It's the 2nd time she's done this to me.. Tsk tsk.

Anyway, we had Popeyes at Changi Airport for dinner! We didn't know the shuttle bus from the Budget Terminal did not go to Terminal 1 so we sat it all the way back to the Budget Terminal and wasted an hour! I got fed up so I drove Valen to Terminal 1. Haha. We slacked in the car, listening to Jay Chou and doing a DAOX. HAHA. Old jokes DIE HARD. My father finally came back from Philippines!

Gathering-of-the-Day

We went down to SAFRA for our annual FST Gathering! We played 2 games of bowling. Hehe, I striked on my first attempt! But I had quite a few "washing drain sessions". 70 and 64 for the 1st and 2nd games respectively. I think I had 2 or 3 strikes in total. Still able to cross my legs when I bowl.. Heh.

After that, we had a buffet dinner (Casuarina Curry) at one of the function rooms in SAFRA. I had totally forgotten that SAFRA had a place to play pool!!! My brother brought me there once. I like the arcade too.. And can play LAN!!!

Anyway, my batch of people headed to Swensen's for a Giant Earthquake!!! Nice.

Trials-of-the-Day

In the evening, we had varsity pistol trials. So many people!

Anyway, after that, we headed over to the HTNS chalet. Tsk tsk tsk.

Lab-of-the-Day

Chewy,
my lab partner for every single lab except FST1101 lab in NUS!(Shooting) Star
Yes, we had this much waiting time.

I had fun cutting up apples in the lab today! Heh, I even sliced an apple in mid-air! HAHA. The things we do. We were playing with the rest of the apples that we did not use for the experiment.

Meeting-of-the-Day

In the afternoon, JY and I went for training at HTNS. JY trained pistol. NOISY BOY. KEEP TALKING TO ME!!! AND ONLY AFTER I'VE RAISED MY GUN!!! Tsk. Entertaining training though. Heh.

After that, Valen picked up HJ and Joanna and headed back to school. Some poor soul came from school to Bukit Gombak and was then taken back by Valen to school. Haha. Anyway, we had the Sports Club AGM that evening. Well well.

Dinner-of-the-Day

I brought dinner from school (from my FST project) and ate at home in the living room. The evening sun was nice. A happy garden, a happy dog. The environment was serene. I haven't appreciated dinner in such a setting for a very long time. Some peace and quiet. Such a simple thing could move you to tears. Slow down and take a breath...

Photo-of-the-Day

Shoot-of-the-Day

Finally went for my 3rd monthly shoot at HTNS this year! The score was 354 (87, 85, 88, 94). After that, we watched some anime while waiting to play basketball! Ended the day with dinner at Serangoon Gardens.

Party-of-the-Day

I was amazed that so many FST people didn't know this was HCJC's uniform!!!
Kena bullied again! Tying my hair against my will!
In the evening, we attended Eileen's birthday party at her Condo! It was a school uniform party and I was a HCJC gal for that evening (felt like an imposter) but at least I felt a teeny bit smarter. LoL. Some of my AJ classmates were there as well as my FST folks! Quite fun. =)

After that, I met XY and HJ to eat tau huay at Jln Kayu! Tau huay is nice!

Birthday-of-the-Day

I had a 45min interview today! WELL WELL. Anyway, we had our AWC sub-committee elections today. I have a happy committee. Shooting rifle with a suit is cool! Feels so steady!

It's Jimmy's birthday today! Happy 25th Birthday!

Fright-of-the-Day

I felt rather smart today for the FIRST time this semester! I actually managed to do most of the calculations for my Food Engineering lab report!!! I usually have a lot of difficulty with it.

JY and I ate at Carl's Junior! NICE! Later on, we went to transport the guns back from SAFRA. Anyway, I thought I lost my handphone! Actually I did for about 5 minutes? I left my handphone at the counter I think. The staff kept it for me. Horrified me to death. Recently, my brain's been getting too distracted!

In the evening, we met up with Jimmy and had dinner! Jimmy helped me out with my school work! THANK YOU JIMMY! Jimmy's quite functional (shooting, academics, friendness, etc).
Into the Night by Santana feat. Chad Kroeger is a rather nice driving song.

A kid too obsessed with drawing a perfect circle using freehand.
Obsession is the word.

Into the Night by Santana feat. Chad Kroeger

Like a gift from the heavens,
it was easy to tell,
It was love from above, that could save me from hell,
She had fire in her soul it was easy to see,
how the devil himself could be pulled out of me,
There were drums in the air as she started to dance,
Every soul in the room keeping time with there hands,
And we sang…

(Chorus)
Ay oh ay oh ay oh ay,
And the voices bang like the angels sing,
We’re singing…
Ay oh ay oh ay oh ay,
And we danced on into the night,
Ay oh ay oh,
Ay oh ay oh,
And we danced on into the night,

Like a piece to the puzzle that falls into place,
You could tell how we felt from the look on our faces,
we was spinning in circles with the moon in our eyes,
The room left them moving between you and I,
We forgot where we were and we lost track of time,
And we sang to the wind as we danced through the night,
And we sang…

(Chorus)
Ay oh ay oh ay oh ay,
And the voices bang like the angels sing,
We’re singing…
Ay oh ay oh ay oh ay,
And we danced on into the night,
Ay oh ay oh,
Ay oh ay oh,

And we danced on into the night,
Ay oh ay oh,
Ay oh ay oh,
And we danced on into the night,

Like a gift from the heavens,
it was easy to tell,
It was love from above,
that could save me from hell,
She had fire in her soul it was easy to see,
how the devil himself could be pulled out of me,
There were drums in the air as she started to dance,
Every soul in the room keeping time with there hands,
And we sang…

(Chorus)
Ay oh ay oh ay oh ay,
And the voices bang like the angels sing,
We’re singing…
Ay oh ay oh ay oh ay,
And we danced on into the night,
Ay oh ay oh,
Ay oh ay oh,
And we danced on into the night,
(And the voices bang like the angels sing),
Ay oh ay oh,
Ay oh ay oh,
And we danced on into the night,
Ay oh ay oh ay oh ay,
(Ay oh ay oh),
Ay oh ay oh ay oh ay,
(Ay oh ay oh),
Singing ay oh ay oh ay oh ay,
(Ay oh ay oh),

Competition-of-the-Day

This apple looks so real!!! It's a plastic apple.
Hmm, today was the 10m Air Pistol Women Event for Singapore Open. My score was 355 (83, 89, 90, 93) which was a Personal Best.
We had a cool lab session doing sensory evaluation! Drink drink drink! It was so hard to do the tasting as they all tasted the same!
In the evening, there was the Gala Dinner for Singapore Open.
Good Company + Free Food = JJJJ Happy

Excursion-of-the-Day

I must say, I'm feeling good today. At least in the morning (5+ to 6+am)? I love FST!

Oh, and contrary to popular belief, I am able to find alternative routes to a location. I found 2 routes to The Chevrons. (",)

For our lab session for FST3102, we went to Health Science Authority! We had a tour of the labs there. There's the cigarette lab, pharmaceutical lab, cosmetic lab, food lab, forensic lab, etc! We had biscuits and coffee provided! Never a lab session without food in FST!

After school, I met up with Sandra to pass her a gigantic book/stuff and we headed for dinner at Yishun. Ate satay. I think I'm in love with satay but it's fattening. Tsk. Still haven't fufilled my craving!!! Oh well...

I know this is kind of lagging.. But.. I know why I find HRM farmiliar! HRM = His/Her Royal Majesty but it's also Human Resource Management! HEHE. I didn't guess that before since it's rather of out-of-context.

Training-of-the-Day

Went to SAFRA for training for SG Open today. I'm damn damn busy! Tomorrow is an early wakey day... so Goodnight folks!

Movie-of-the-Day

Did SOME work today. The lab report seems tough although I think it's because I haven't tried hard enough. I love Food Engineering. I love Food Engineering. I love Food Engineering. If I repeat this many times over, maybe I'll really come to love it (my brother's theory). I salute all chemical engineers. I'm amazed at the material you people study.

XY, HJ and I went out today! We watched Ratatouille! I love talking animals. Haha. Anyway, after that, we had dinner at New York New York. We ate fondue, hehe. We played pool after that. Fun!

Did you know???
Nata de coco is produced by the bacterial fermentation of coconut water! I was amazed. I didn't know it was a fermented product. However, fermentation processes are usually catabolic (breaking down of molecules) while this process of making nata de coco is anabolic (synthesizing bigger molecules). Niiice.
