Movie-of-the-Day

Had a quick lunch at Khatib (below Sandra's block) then we headed to my place. We had some work to complete before heading out to play. Managed to complete 1/5 of my IA report and edited and printed the final version (I hope.. this is like v5.0) of my "homework" for my supervisor. Anyway, we watched "Definitely, Maybe". It was okay I guess! Love story thingy again, haha. Had dinner at Mad Jack's. Ate the burger there (supposedly the TALLEST in town). I believe it. It's the ONLY burger I can't chew down on all the layers (I can do that that with Carl's Jr burgers). I had to eat it a few layers at a time. THREE chicken patties. Not bad.

What happens if a several coincidences happen one after the other and they all point you in a certain direction. Directions that you were looking for on a map. Is it all one big coincidence?

Why people get addicted to cheese..
(from the radio, supported with articles from the internet)

Cheese has high levels of the protein, casein. Morphine-like opiate compounds called casomorphins are encapsulated in casein. Hence cheese may be addictive. Hmm, explains why so many of us love cheese. Some theorize that these opiates are responsible for the mother-infant bond that occurs during nursing.

WARNING: Religious content...
There's these few priests who have touched my life greatly in this past few months. All they did was preach. "Were not our hearts burning within us while he was talking to us on the road, while he was opening the scriptures to us?"

There's this particular priest (he's almost 70) but young at heart. Our priests command a pay (or rather allowance) of about $400/month. He's a great speaker with a sense of humour. He has a high EQ and selects his words very well and seems like a highly intelligent man. Sophisticated. I think if he was in the corporate world he would have commanded a big fat salary. In spite of this, he's so happy. Truly happy. Every time I hear him preach, I always think he'd be doing very well by society's standards if he wasn't a priest.

There's another priest who's a great speaker as well. About 30 years ago when he was thinking of joining the priesthood, his friend told him "You can't be a redemptorist (an order of priests who are well known for their ability in speech), you can't speak!" Quite amazing how he's transformed. I'm glad they're in the priest hood, I really needed to hear them preach. Christian optimism. I have much to learn.

They pursued what they really wanted to do in life, against societal pressure, perhaps against the wishes of their relatives. We pass through but once... We can't add more days to our life but we can add more life to our days...

Anyway, I love this song from Linkin Park. Loved it the first day I heard it at HMV (just a week or two ago). Love the lyrics.

Leave Out All the Rest by Linkin Park

I dreamed I was missing, you were so scared
But no one would listen, 'cause no one else cared
After my dreaming, I woke with this fear
What am I leaving when I'm done here?

So if you're asking me, I want you to know

When my time comes, forget the wrong that I've done
Help me leave behind some reasons to be missed
Don't resent me, and when you're feeling empty
Keep me in your memory, leave out all the rest

Leave out all the rest, don't be afraid
I've taken my beating, I've shared what I made
I'm strong on the surface, not all the way through
I've never been perfect, but neither have you

So if you're asking me, I want you to know

When my time comes, forget the wrong that I've done
Help me leave behind some reasons to be missed
Don't resent me, and when you're feeling empty
Keep me in your memory, leave out all the rest
Leave out all the rest

Forgetting all the hurt inside you've learned to hide so well
Pretending someone else can come and save me from myself
I can't be who you are

When my time comes, forget the wrong that I've done
Help me leave behind some reasons to be missed
Don't resent me, and when you're feeling empty
Keep me in your memory, leave out all the rest
Leave out all the rest

Forgetting all the hurt inside you've learned to hide so well
Pretending someone else can come and save me from myself
I can't be who you are

I can't be who you are
